How do I transport my container once I have hired or purchased it?
You can arrange your own transport or have our team arrange it for you. The container can be delivered by Hi-Ab/Crane truck or Swinglift truck. We can help you choose the best form of transport.
Do I need council permission to place my container?
All council regulations are different, we suggest contacting your local council if you are not sure.
How do I pay for my newly hired or purchased container?
If you are a first time customer and are hiring a container, you will need to make a payment covering fees for the first month, as well as transport to and from your premises (if required). After the first payment, the charges are paid monthly. Purchased containers are paid for prior to delivery. Payments can be made by Credit Card or Online Banking.
How long can I hire my container for?
We have short and long term leasing options for our containers. The minimum hire period is 30 days. There is no limit to the length you can hire the container for.
How do I give back my container?
Once you are finished with your hired container call our office and we will collect it for you. Please give us as much notice as possible to collect your container.
Will condensation build up on my goods stored in the container?
Did you know that soft furnishings such as sofas, mattresses, couches, etc. contain moisture? If you are storing products that have moisture already present in them, and your container is going to be left untouched for an extended period of time, it is wise to consider using a dry pole which absorbs moisture from the air within the container. Ask your sales rep for details.
How should prepare my site before the delivery of a container?
Your container must be placed on solid firm ground with clear access for the truck to deliver. If the container is placed in a paddock or grassy area, keeping it off the ground using railway sleepers or blocks is best. Allowing air to circulate under the container will reduce the risk of moisture, rust and subsequent damage to the container.
Can I send my container overseas?
If you buy a container from us you can take it overseas as long as you purchase one that has a valid Container Safety Convention (CSC) certification to prove it is seaworthy. We can help you with this. Our hire containers cannot be taken outside of the country.
How much space do I need to place my container?
Ensure there is enough space for either a SWING LIFT or HIAB
Swing Lift 20ft (Height: 5m / Width: 6m Length: 10m)
HIAB 20ft (Height: 7.5m / Width: 5m / Length: 10m)
Swing Lift 40ft (Height: 5m / Width: 6m Length: 20m)
HIAB 40ft (Height: 7.5m / Width: 5m / Length: 20m)
Can I collect and deliver my own container?
Yes, you may collect your own container as long as you have the correct equipment. Please note that your truck must have twist locks.
What are the container sizes?
Shipping Container comes in three standard sizes. We stock 10ft containers, 20ft containers and 40ft containers. For more details check Shipping Container Sizes. We also have special shipping containers for projects that are oversized, dangerous goods, or goods that require easy access into the shipping container. Our team also offer shipping container modifications NZ wide, in our main centre workshop.
Do I need to insure my hire container?
Our containers are safe, secure and come with optional lock-boxes, but if you do have valuable items, it is best to insure the contents and container. Check with your insurance company for details.
Can I get a container painted in a preferred colour?
It's possible to get your container painted in most colours. Our most popular colours are brown, green, blue and grey. Most of the paints that we use are water-based and eco-friendly. Keep in mind, though, that the darker colours retain more heat.
